Demonstrated expertise
  • I am experienced in dealing with the media, and have worked extensively with all forms of the media.
  • I have been a key player in two law reform movements in Tasmania, in relation to contraceptive availability in 1987, and abortion law reform in 2001.
  • A major achievement between 1996 and 1998 was the establishment of a Health Promotion Centre in Hobart.  This building was developed from the shell of an old student hostel, and since the completion of renovations in December 1997 houses three community based agencies.  Family Planning Tasmania is the major occupier of the building, and rents space to the Drug Education Network and Quit Tasmania.  I acted as centre manager for this facility, as part of my appointment with Family Planning Tasmania.  In 2001/02 I did it all again, in relation to a building in Launceston, albeit on a smaller scale.
  • I consider myself highly proficient in the use of MYOB accounting software, having installed and maintained systems based on the software in over 150 organisations with different needs and levels of sophistication. I have demonstrated that I can  ‘trouble shoot’ MYOB problems from remote locations, such as Pacific Islands and Asia.  I have run extensive training sessions on MYOB.
  • I have high level skills with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and File Maker Pro data bases.  I am proficient with word processing applications, particularly Microsoft Word.
  • From December 2002 to December 2003 I assumed the role of project officer for the co-ordination of the development of a national minimum data set for all Family Planning Organisations in Australia.
